writer's / artist's statement
My creative work is prompted by a deep desire to capture and express the unique characteristics and intricacies of my feelings and memories. I use language and visuals as means to record the slightest of feelings and moments that I wish to remember. I find comfort in my natural tendency to filter life through a poetic lens, discovering and making meaning by connecting the seemingly extraneous. Through poetic devices and mark-making, I explore concepts of metamorphosis and mimesis. My artistic practice provides me with a space for meditating on issues that personally affect me, including matters related to feminism, body-image, mental health, family, and growth. Connecting with others by sharing human experiences through artwork motivates me greatly.
